I ordered a Burda magazine from the classified section of Patternreview.com. I've admired many peoples creations from this magazine. It's the November 2009 issue. This is my first one and I'm pretty excited about it. It seems to be a little bit more work since you have to trace out the patterns and then cut them out, but it'll be a different experience.
Hmmm... what to try as my first Burda pattern?!

Can't wait to see what you choose to sew up! I have one from last year and haven't gotten to the tracing just yet...
Wow! I love the red dress from the cover! Just gorgeus!!! Maybe you'll do it?
I love Burda, the patterns, the fitting, it's great. I can't wait to see what you'll choose to create!
The first garment I made from Burda Magazine was in March of this year. At first I was rather bewildered by all those squiggles on the pattern sheet but your eyes adjust very quickly. The instructions are, of course, pretty basic so as a beginner I needed to look in reference books for help. But I have since made several garments from Burda Magazine - they have some very nice styles. I am sure you will make great things. Good luck!
@Antoinette - Thanks! Tracing might be what keeps from using a pattern later than sooner, too...
@Eliana - I love that dress, too. It is a possibility. :)
@Karin - Thanks!
@Eugenia - Thanks for the encouragement! I'm still a little intimidated by it the tracing and such.
The Month of Tops blog is ready to go!

I'm very interested in hearing how you like sewing with Burda patterns. I, too, admire other sewers' Burda creations - the designs are so stylish! - but the lack of clear instructions is intimidating to me. Plus, cutting out a traditional pattern is work enough, so I'm wary of the additional copying and tracing steps that Burda requires.
Definitely keep us posted on what you think of it.
Uh oh. This will be the start of an addiction. Mark my words.
@ASewnWardrobe - I will definitely be posting my experience(s) with Burda. :)
@Dawn - Thanks for the warning! I love everything you make with it... I hope mine turn out just as good.
I made in november my first burda dress and I would advise you to choose one that had been reviewed on pattern review because burda instructions are sometimes not very clear,IMHO...
Thanks, lasandrou, for the advice! I'll defintely will need to look at that.
